Mortgage Refinance or New Homeowner assistance

Over the past few years, homeowners were presented with many choices in mortgages. Homeowners were told that the typical or standard 30 year or 15 year fixed rate options were unavailable or a "better" or "cheaper" alternative was available. Lenders came up with many different mortgage options including interest only or adjustable rate mortgages. In many instances these options were made available so the lenders could charge additional fees to the homeowner. The consequences to the homeowner was a secondary or not a concern at all.

While the days of these mortgages may be in the past, many homeowners are fighting to keep their homes because they cannot make payments on these "sophisticated" mortgages after the terms changed. Many consumers do not understand that there may be assistance through government programs or through traditional lenders.
